EFFECTS OF EXPOSURE:
Acute overexposure to zinc oxide fumes can produce metal fume fever. Chronic overexposure to iron oxide fumes can result in a benign pneumoconiosis (siderosis). Chronic overexposure to manganese fumes can result in central nervous system effects (Parkinson-like syndrome). Skin contact with nickel and hexavalent chromium may cause an allergic dermatitis. Chronic inhalation of elevated levels of hexavalent chromium and nickel may lead to an increase 1n the incidence of any cancer.
